Blitz Celebrates 100th Birthday with Food, Fun and Memories!

Employees, officers, affiliates and friends of Blitz Manufacturing Company, Inc were treated to an unforgettable Thanksgiving feast in honor of Blitz’s 100th birthday! Employees eagerly anticipate the dinner every year as it is a time for them to enjoy some fabulous catering and quality time with fellow colleagues. This year’s festivities were catered by Famous Dave’s BBQ and included savory pulled pork, mouthwatering brisket, seasoned chicken, spiced macaroni & cheese, and more all followed by irresistibly sweet champagne flavored cupcakes! Centered in the middle of the buffet were photos of Blitz throughout the last 100 years and even included original packaging from 1912! Blitz was proud to have several honored guests in attendance including owner & CEO, Howard Sturm, Troy Cupp of Welch Printing, Mark Lewis from Advanced Business Solutions, and Constituent Services Representative for Congressman Todd Young, Becky Lambert. CFO, Robert Slawinski initiated the celebration with a humorous yet thoughtful speech. “Welcome to our 100th birthday celebration; we greatly appreciate everyone joining us as this is definitely an occasion to celebrate” said Slawinski as he soon followed up with a playful jab. “I would now like to introduce Richard Spiers who was actually around when the Blitz Cloth was invented in 1912”! Richard Spiers, COO of Blitz Mfg. gave some warm remarks and subtly responded, “I think I’m aging pretty well for over 100 years old; not too much gray hair”. Speeches were concluded with a statement from owner and CEO, Howard Sturm. “I would especially like to thank all of the Blitz employees who have gone above and beyond for this company. You are all extraordinary and should take a moment to pat yourself on the back because reaching 100 years is rare”. Blitz was founded in 1912 in Auburn, NY and released what is known today as the Original Blitz Cloth. The cloth was created with members of the United States Military in mind, many of which were serving in WW1. The idea was to provide a light and non-toxic treated cloth that would serve to polish the GI’s brass. The cloth received accolades for its ability and effectiveness even earning it a spot in the Smithsonian Institute. Blitz moved operations from New York and landed in Jeffersonville, Indiana where the factory is still located today. Blitz has proudly expanded the collection to include non-toxic jewelry cleaner, musical instrument care products, sporting goods care, and more for retail and wholesale/private label! Blitz would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate our 100th birthday! As COO Robert Slawinski blew out the birthday candles only one thought came to mind; Here’s to another 100 years!
